Afternoon tea is served daily in the lounges and drawing rooms. Full afternoon tea is 52 pounds per person and champagne afternoon tea is 72 pounds per person. Booking is recommended.
Yes. Dogs are welcome in selected bedrooms at 20 pounds per dog per night, which includes a bed and water bowl. Dogs are not permitted in the main house or the restaurant. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the hotel.

Gidleigh’s story stretches back centuries, from the Prouz family (from the time of William the Conqueror) to the estate’s major rebuild in 1925, when Charles Harold Campbell McIlwraith commissioned architect Stanley Philpot to reimagine the house. It became a hotel in 1955, then was lovingly restored and elevated further under Andrew and Christina Brownsword’s ownership, including a full refurbishment in 2005.
